When we were in Israel we got to experience Kabbalat Shabbat, which literally means "welcoming the Sabath," or "preparing" for the Sabbath. They take time the night before to prepare their hearts to worship God. I guess it's similar to laying your clothes out, packing a lunch and reviewing your to-do list the night before a big day of work, only in this case it's before a big day of worship. Here in America our weekly "Sabbath" is usually more like 2 hours getting ready for church, going to church, and then coming home and changing into comfortable clothes. Not much thought goes into preparing for the Sabbath and there's not much thought about it after it's over. However for the Jewish people it's a 24-hour affair and the highlight of the week. Earlier this evening I stumbled across this music video of one of my favorite worship songs and it got me so excited about worshipping God tomorrow, so I thought I would pass it along. Enjoy!
