January 18: Grandma Likkel is known for many things, and one of them is her homemade Split Pea soup. I love making it because it's a Likkel favorite, a fond childhood memory, and a piece of our Dutch heritage.
Recipe:
In the morning, fill crockpot with...
- 2 cups dried split peas
- 1 ham bone & 2 cups diced ham
- 3 medium potatoes, diced
- about 1 cup each of carrots & celery
- 1 package Knorr Leek recipe mix
January 19: Isaiah met Emily for the first time. It was love at first sight! He just couldn't get enough of her.
January 20: Tonight was a special night at Cubbies. It was PJ, Popcorn & Movie night. All of Isaiah's favorite things! He was so excited that he set out his PJ's a week before! I just love Isaiah's joy & enthusiasm for the little things in life. =)
January 21: This morning the Little Buddy woke up with a cold. He was most comfortable & content in a steamy bath with Johnson & Johnson's soothing vapor bath. LOVE this stuff.
January 22: Today we headed to Seattle for the weekend for some work & play. The first stop we made was to see the Wilkenings. Oh how we love this family! If only we lived closer... What a joy it was to meet their newest addition Zavion. What a beautiful gift from the Lord.
January 23: After spending the morning sharing about our upcoming move with one of our ministry supporters, we took the kids on the monorail to downtown Seattle. Isaiah was beyond excited & couldn't ask enough questions about how it worked. As the day went on, the kid's colds got worse & worse. Dave & Debbie met us half-way to get the kids so we could have a night away in Seattle on our own. It was such a treat to spend the night together, and know that the kids were being loved on by Nana & Papa too.
January 24: Our day together just the two of us - pure bliss! =) We spent most of the day walking hand-in-hand downtown Seattle, eating crepes, drinking Starbucks, and just loving the city. We then made our way over to Mars Hill to take part in an incredible church service & hearing Pastor Mark Driscoll share about his time in Haiti. Our day ended with us enjoying this breathtaking view of Seattle's skyline. We just love this city!
