In one of the previous posts we shared that life had been full of ups and downs lately. This morning I (ross) came into work extra early and dove in to my work. I was really trying to get a good start on the day when I noticed that I had been squinting for a while. It had been nearly pitch black when I arrived at the office, but now the sun was peeking out over the hills and it was shining right in my eyes. No matter how I tilted my head or turned my chair, I couldn't escape from it. So I stopped my work, grabbed the camera, and ran to the top of the office building to grab a picture. I just stood there for a while soaking in the fact that I had been treated to a magnificent sunrise and then two things popped in my mind that summed up how I was feeling at that moment- a bible verse and a Beatles song.
First, the Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun", which was popular in the late 60's but never quite made it to the top of the charts:
Now for the bible verse "Psalm 37:5-7", which was popular back in 1000 b.c. and has continued climbing the charts to this day (it's part of a collection of books that long ago became the best-selling and most-read book of all time). Although this was written about 3000 years ago, I believe it's just as relevant today.
I love the fact that God simply asks us to commit our work to Him and He will take care of the results. But even more than that, sometimes He asks us to not work but rather to just stop, be patient, watch the sunrise, and wait for Him to act. That verse sums up a very trustworthy promise, "As surely as the sun rises, we can trust in God to care for the details and make our lives illuminate the world around us."
p.s. We got so many encouraging emails and phone calls from friends and family- things are looking up and we want you to know how much we appreciate your love and care for us. Thanks.

"Here comes the sun, here comes the sun... And I say it's all right...
Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces...Little darlin' it seems like years
since it's been here... Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's
all right"

He will make your godly ways shine like the dawn. He will make your honest life
shine like the sun at noon. Be still. Be patient. Wait for the Lord to act."

P.S. It's been a long time since I've sang that ole' Beatles song...that was a fun nostalgic moment =)
Yeah God. So thankful that you were encouraged this morning!
great photo. wonderful lesson. perfect timing, too, as it'll only be another month or so before my office is flooded with sunshine every morning. this year, instead of simply lowering the blinds, i'll take a moment to enjoy it, absorb it and thank God for the beautiful sunshine. thanks for sharing this story. it truly warmed my heart! - tam
