Pickin' Berries...
Isaiah loves strawberries, so yesterday we took him to a strawberry patch in a little town about an hour north of our house to pick fresh strawberries. After driving down a couple of dead-end, gravel roads in the middle of nowhere, we finally found a place that was open and selling strawberries. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us pick our own as long as we had kids with us (we had never heard of such a rule) and they said "if we let you, we'd have to let everyone else too." So we bought our flat of berries, which seem juicier but not as sweet as the ones we're used to in Washington, and we were able to wander out in the field to get a few pictures and let Isaiah see how they grow. Boy, was he ever fascinated with it, it was so cute. He was popping the berries in faster than we could hand them out, he had berry juice all over his face and hands, and whenever Taya would blow the berry to try to get some of the dust off he would say "oooh, it's hot!" We had a great day as a family, and tonight we're going to make strawberry shortcake.
