Earlier today a friend at work mentioned that we don't seem to be posting to this blog as frequently as we used to, but that it looks like we've been more active on Twitter and Facebook.
He's right.
Lately it feels like the pace of life has us moving so quickly that we just can't keep up with it. Blurting out one or two sentences on Twitter or Facebook seems to be about the best we can muster some days.
Check out this incredible video clip for a reminder of how fast the speed of life is coming at all of us:
The question (or maybe it is more of a statement of frustration) at the end of the video is fascinating to me:
SO WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
Do you have an answer? What does this faster pace of life mean to you? to your family? to your neighbors?
I don't have any answer to the question except to look at some passages from the Bible that remind us about having an eternal perspective on how we spend our days and live our lives (Ephesians 5:15-19), not trusting in our own plans (James 4:13-17), and not procrastinating when we have the opportunity to do good or make something right (Hebrews 3:15).
Most of the time I love the hustle and bustle of the faster pace, and still there are times that I find myself daydreaming about spending a month (or maybe a year) in a remote location without any kind of technology or media. But whether the pace is speeding up or slowing down, I'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes from missionary Jim Elliot:
"Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every moment you believe to be the will of God."
We would love to hear from you...
1. Are you typically a "Fast Pace" or "Slow Pace" type of Person?
2. What is one defining moment that you "lived to the hilt" so far this year?
Or, if it hasn't happened yet, what is one big moment you are anticipating over the next few months?

i love that jim elliot quote! linda used to say that one to us all the time. i used to "fill" my time and would have called myself fast paced. now i would definitely say we lead a slow paced life...hopefully the answer to the question isn't having trauma happen in ones life. LOL! i think that balance is hard to come by and takes effort in and of itself.
